Case Studies

Our best clients are small businesses without a tech person on staff, the owner values focusing on what they do best - run their business. The business is clear about who their clients are, what they often want to know and they can clearly communicate aspects of their message, products and services.

Websites provide a great way for businesses to keep their message fresh, to market themselves and when possible, help their clients help themselves 24/7.

Dough Dreamery - Cookie Dough

The Brief

Melissa had been following a crazy idea she saw on Facebook and decided she wanted to research and ultimately start her own Raw Cookie Dough business.

She had an idea for a logo and after multiple options with Fiver, she sketched out what she envisioned and it came to me – I designed a rough logo and she liked it! After a few tweaks it became the branding piece to begin the website.

This was a far step from her previous industry, so was important for her new website to have some fun, be easy to use and that she be able to update the cookie dough flavors or holiday specials herself.

Our Approach

With logo in hand, we talked about what kind of images and photos to include, how to sell dough – online or in various retail locations. Online stores traditionally can be expensive and require extensive attention to security and updates. After looking at Squareup.com for the selling and future email marketing tools, the website became more affordable for her startup business.

Mystery shopping in stores for the competitive products to research packaging, texture, taste and price points began. Yes, I did my fair share of mystery shopping and taste testing.

Melissa found that she enjoyed making the cookie dough and marketing it at networking events while her husband found he could make some fun and professional looking photos of the chef and the dough!

The Result

A one month build of a complete website for Dough Dreamery and Square market provides the store for orders. She has built a following in social media and in person with 3 locations for pickup onsite.

She launched her retail store in August 2019 and now is working with a Social Media expert on her SEO and marketing posts! Really excited to this business grow and reach a major goal!

Demo Site

The Brief

Real Estate Developer wanted to create a website similar to an developer site and I recommended that there are themes that will highlight their projects more broadly and visually.

The goal was to showcase some of their team’s projects in Colorado. It was important to have animation in the slider and text that moved to draw the eye around the website.

My Approach

Found the Construction theme and showed them the way it functions and we selected the pages needed and what areas would need content and photos of projects and or the team members.

Once they sent the content, my approach was to balance the project photos, provide descriptions that would help on searches and just enough animation but not too much.

The Result

They gained a beautiful website that they moved to their own hosting and team to maintain.
The demo site shows what kinds of fancy options are available – the search function is turned off so as to not affect their site if it is still active somewhere.

This was my first exposure to the Visual Composer page builder and to Revolution Slider tools. Those tools now have a number of competitors like Beaver Builder, Divi and Themes that come with variety of templates to start the building process.

Great Guys Heating and Cooling – Heating and Air Conditioning in Denver Metro

Great Guys HVAC

The Brief

Marcus, founder of Great Guys HVAC worked in the heating and cooling industry for years and decided to launch his own business. One member of his team had some experience with websites but just needed something up fast and furious for their start. The one page Godaddy page had little to look at and a multiple issues kept it from working properly.

When we spoke, it was time to upgrade the broken one page website with a website to utilize better SEO opportunities and images to highlight their services.

My Approach

They were focused on the search results, so knew that a lot more wording on the website was vital, otherwise, they weren’t attached to any particular look or feel for the site. It was important to be able to bring some of the reviews over from their Yelp and Facebook pages too.

The Result

Within a week of the website soft launch, they had someone find the website and hire them. Between the website and digital marketing plus they are a 24 hour operation, they can be found on page one for hvac in greenwood village, co only a couple months after launch of website.

Rocky Mountain Yorkie Rescue

The Brief:

RMYR had a website that was built in HTML and was not responsive for tablets and phones. The background color offered some contrast but was hard to read the text.

I have a big heart for furbabies and this organization needed help now and for the future online. I The most important was being able to highlight the new Yorkies ready for adoption as they bevome available.

The Process:

Their old logo wasn't a "have to have". Found a full width WordPress design that I liked and behind the scenes worked to put together a friendly, cute design that was functional for the applications and informational pages. The home page had to communicate the mission and who they help. We have tweaked the design several times - based on what needs the RMYR wants to highlight.  However, the design tools allow me to update new Yorkies available for adoption and include them in social media seo tools so that the home page can be easily shared.

The Results:

The first time I revealed the website, the Yorkie was highlighted and I shared the page on Facebook! The client let me know that wild things were happening - tens of applications and inquiries about the Yorkie and WOW, that NEVER happened before.

The other team members that post the Yorkies on other websites were excited and couldn't wait for the full blown launch of the website. It is easy now to work with the flow of the home page to allow for when there are Yorkies available or not.

Image Homes Flooring

The Brief

The co-owner wanted a website to reflect the work they actually had performed and include testimonials from clients. He wanted to have the ability to add images and content as the products or services change, AND have an expert build the site and teach him about edits when it was ready.

The Process

After gathering before and after photos (emphasizing the after) he created content and sent it all my way. He gave competitor websites and what he liked and didn't like. The design process included working more on the areas of highlighting their work and expertise. Before the final launch, my client wanted a thorough training on how he can make edits. He made a few changes and then wanted to have an SEO expert tweak the website for specific items.

The Results

The website got a number of requests for quotes and the SEO work gave the needed tweaks for location searches. The client was very pleased with the professional look and feel of the website.
